Two South Asian Studies Courses

  1. University at Buffalo, SUNY: Adjunct Instructor of South Asian Studies: Indian Cinema for Spring 2018 (discipline open)

The Asian Studies Program at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications from qualified instructors to teach one 3-credit course in the field of South Asian Studies, focusing on Indian Cinema, during the spring 2018 semester. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience who employ interdisciplinary methods.

A master’s degree in area studies or a relevant field is required; a PhD (or ABD status) is preferred. The appointment will be made for the spring 2018 semester only; further appointments are contingent upon future budgetary approval. The compensation for teaching one course will be $3,500.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV (including contact information for three references), and teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy, student evaluations, and sample syllabi) by email to Asian-Studies@buffalo. Review of applications will begin August 15.

Possible topics may include new media and popular culture (journalism, music, dance, etc.), urban societies, gender and sexuality, environmental studies, caste, religion, politics, migration, labor, technology, food, etc.
