Root + Contemporaneity

The work of the notable Chinese architect Zhu Pei, founder of Studio Zhu Pei, reflects a deep understanding and particular awareness of societal traditions, history and the tectonics of building in China. His recent design for the new Museum at the Imperial Kiln in Jingdezhen presents a sensitive addition on a site of national significance yet one that simultaneously explores materiality and constructional innovation. In his lecture at UB’s School of Architecture and Planning the architect Zhu Pei will trace the roots of his work and that inspiration through examinations of current design proposals.
